Information collection and use
For a better experience, and in order to groom your dog safely, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information we collect is used to contact you, to identify you, and to look after your dog.
This may include:
- Your name, telephone number, and email address
- Your postal address, where relevant
- Your dog's name, breed, age, and size
- Notes on your dog's coat, skin, and general condition
- Health information, such as allergies, injuries, arthritis, or nervousness, and your vet's details if you give them to us
- Notes on your dog's behaviour, so that we can keep your dog, and ourselves, safe
- A record of appointments, services carried out, and payments
Information about your dog is not personal data in the legal sense, since it does not identify a person. We describe it here anyway so that you know exactly what we hold.
The contact form
This works differently from most contact forms, and it is worth explaining clearly.
When you complete the booking form and press Send email, this website transmits nothing. Instead, it opens your own email app with a message already written and addressed to us. Your details only reach us when you press send within your own email app. The message then arrives in our Gmail inbox.
The same applies to the WhatsApp buttons. Those simply open WhatsApp, and any message you choose to send is handled by WhatsApp under their own privacy policy.
Our legal basis
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spain's Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD), we must have a lawful reason for using your information. Ours are:
Performance of a contract
To arrange appointments, groom your dog safely, contact you if there is a problem, and take payment.
Our legitimate interests
To keep grooming notes so that your dog receives consistent care, to record health or behaviour issues for everyone's safety, and to respond to enquiries.
Your consent
Where we ask to publish photographs of your dog, or to send you occasional updates. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation
To keep invoices and accounting records for as long as Spanish tax law requires.
Log data
Whenever you visit a website, your browser sends certain information which is commonly called Log Data. This can include your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and how long you spend on those pages.
Some of this Log Data is collected through Google Analytics, but only if you have accepted cookies, as described below. In addition, the company that hosts this website may keep basic server logs in order to keep the site running and secure. You are welcome to ask us who hosts the site.
Cookies
Cookies are files containing small amounts of data, commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. They are sent to your browser by the website you visit and stored on your device.
This website uses cookies set by Google Analytics, described below. We do not use advertising cookies, and we carry no social media tracking.
We ask before we set them. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing is loaded and no analytics cookie is set unless you press Accept. If you press Reject, Google Analytics is never loaded at all.
We remember your answer in a single small cookie named sdg_cookie_consent, which lasts about six months. That one cookie is necessary in order to honour your choice, and it does not track you.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies, or to tell you when one is being sent. If you refuse, this website will still work perfectly normally. Nothing on it depends on cookies.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit this website and which pages they find useful. This helps us improve the site.
Google Analytics only runs if you have accepted cookies. Until then, and if you reject them, no connection to Google Analytics is made and no analytics data leaves your browser.
Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and collects information such as your approximate location, your device and browser type, the pages you view, and how long you spend on them. Your IP address is processed by Google as part of this.
We use this information only in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we have not linked it to any advertising service.
You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Service providers
We are a small business, but some third parties do handle information as a result of how this website and our email work. They may have access to your information in order to perform tasks on our behalf, and they are obliged not to use it for any other purpose.
- Google Analytics: collects statistics about visits to this website, but only if you have accepted cookies, as described above.
- Google (Gmail): our email inbox is a Gmail account, so any email you send us is processed by Google.
- Google Fonts: this site loads its lettering from Google Fonts. In order to deliver the fonts to your browser, Google receives your IP address. We receive nothing from this, and we do not control it, but you should know that it happens.
- A veterinary surgeon: if your dog requires urgent attention while in our care.
We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law. We never sell your information, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.
Security
We value the trust you place in us, and we use reasonable means to protect your information. Grooming records are kept securely, and access is limited to Jane.
Please remember, however, that no method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
This website contains links to other sites, including Facebook and WhatsApp. If you click a third-party link, you will be taken to that site.
These external sites are not operated by us. We strongly encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party site or service.
Photographs of your dog
We may ask to take before and after photographs of your dog, and to share them on this website or on our Facebook page.
We will always ask you first, and you are free to say no. Declining will never affect the service your dog receives. If you agree and later change your mind, tell us and we will take the photographs down.
How long we keep information
We keep your contact details and your dog's grooming notes for as long as you are a customer, and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you return to us.
Invoices and accounting records are kept for the period required by Spanish tax law.
Once that period has passed, we delete or securely destroy the information. If you would like to know how long we will hold your particular information, please ask and we will tell you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the LOPDGDD you have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to erase it, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- Ask us to transfer it to someone else
- Withdraw your consent, where you gave it
To exercise any of these rights, email ojane878@gmail.com. It costs you nothing, and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), at www.aepd.es. We would much rather you came to us first, so that we can put things right.
Children's privacy
Our services are directed at adults. In Spain, the age at which a person can consent to their personal data being processed is 14, under Article 7 of the LOPDGDD.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If we discover that we have done so without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take the necessary steps.
If a young person needs to bring a dog to us, we will require a parent or guardian's contact details.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, so please review this page periodically. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page, and by updating the date at the top. Changes take effect once posted. Where a change is significant, we will tell you directly.

If you have any questions or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We would far rather explain than leave you wondering.
